Tip Tuesday: Prepping Your Lips

Hey Beauties! Happy Tuesday!

Have you ever applied lipstick to your lips and it wasn’t a smooth application, your lipstick didn’t last all day or the lipstick didn’t look as rich in color as it did when you swatched it? Well, I have a few tips on how you can prep your lips before application. These tips will solve all the problems listed above!!

1. Exfoliate

Before I begin applying any makeup, I usually exfoliate my lips to get rid of any dead skin.

Below are two ways I like to do this

  • To make a homemade lip exfoliant I mix 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. I usually put this in a small container so I will have enough for a couple weeks.
  • Take your toothbrush (make sure it’s soft bristles) brush your lips in small circular motions.

2. Moisturize

I’m currently loving the Kiehls Baby Lip Balm because it’s super gentle on the lips and it moisturizes well. After I moisturize my lips I start my makeup routine! This allows the lip balm to have time to work its magic.

3. Prime

Apply primer to your lips!! This is going to fill any lines which will create a smooth base for your lipstick. It’ll also help your lipstick stay on longer and prevent fading!

4. Apply

Use a lip liner to line your lips so the lines look alot cleaner! Once you fill your lips in, apply the color you want!! If you make a mistake, don’t worry. Just clean it up with a little concealer or foundation and your done!

Hope you guys enjoyed these tips!! What is your favorite Fall Lipstick? Let me know in the comments.
